Oberhof Germany - Update from Eric

Andy and I have been representing SMS T2 at the USST men's camp in Europe.  We spent the first week of the camp in Austria, training in Ramsau and skiing on the Dachstein glacier (blog post here).  On Friday, we wrapped up the first half of the camp and traveled north to the ski tunnel in Oberhof, Germany.

The DKB Ski Tunnel.

Trail map for the ski tunnel - you can ski a loop of about 1.75k if you include the red loop in both directions. The word "tunnel" is a bit misleading because the entire structure is built above ground.

Getting skis ready for a classic ski on snow-making day (they refresh the snow in the tunnel once a week).

Coach Cork helping Noah dial in his skis - hardwax over blue klister binder has been kicking well.

Perfect tracks and midwinter conditions in the refrigerator.

Cornering practice.

Simi showing how its done.

Oberhof hosts several stages of the Tour de Ski every year.  The race trails are paved and make for awesome summer rollerskiing.

Andy leading the train.  We've done a lot of group skiing over the past few days and I'm doing my best to learn as much as I can from everyone here.

The camp officially wraps up on Friday, but Andy and I are staying for an extra week to ski some more in the tunnel and train with the Norwegian National team.  Stay tuned for more updates.  Thanks to Chris Grover from many of the training photos.
