We had a picture perfect day for the North Face Race to the Summit today. There was a little ice on the trail from the chilly night, but no one was complaining.
Here are a couple of pictures from 2/3rds of the way up and then more from close to the top. The team ran well with the large majority setting new personal bests. We followed up the run with some strength and then an easy afternoon.
TC came down and made his son (Paddy) and brother proud with a fine showing.
The race for first. From here, the trail levels off and the last 200 meters is pretty flat. Paddy managed to reel in Nick for the victory and Tyler came in close behind in third. Nick and Tyler each knocked 2 minutes off of their previous PR's, while Paddy was just a bit off of his PR.
Austin was a bit off today, but still ran a solid race and finished 4th (for SMS and overall).
Cam led our girls with a new SMS female student record of 28:21. All 6 girls set PR's :)
Rachel had a good race and finished in 29:34.
Hallie is having a good week. She knocked 35 seconds off of her PR in the mtn run and she bettered her 5 km running time at Bellows Falls by 1:30.
Issy set a PR with a 30:00.
Mac struggled today, but had an excellent race on Friday. Hopefully today was just a bump in the road.
Today's race entry proceeds went to support "The Collaborative", a non profit coalition supporting substance free youth in the local communities. Alexandra Cobb came to support the cause and cheer on everyone.
"Papa" Foulkes reports that the mountain is not getting any flatter.
Mackenzie gets encouragement from Austin on the last stretch.
